Xiaomi Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4 Get AOSP-based Android Pie Custom ROM

Just days after Google released Android 9 Pie for the Pixel and Pixel two lineups, a 3rd-political party developer has already ported the software to the Redmi Annotation four, making it one of the starting time Xiaomi devices to have received the update, albeit, unofficially. According to XDA, a few other Xiaomi devices have as well received the new ROM, including the Mi iii, the Mi 4 and the Redmi 4X, which is sold as the Redmi 4 in India.

The Android Pie update for the Redmi Annotation 4 is based on AOSP, and according to the developer, Abhishek987 from XDA Forums, all the features are working as expected. It doesn't obviously have whatever known major bugs either, but since it's still a piece of work-in-progress, some problems might be reported as more than people get the opportunity to test it out. The Redmi Note 4 was released with Android Marshmallow out of the box, just has since received the Android Nougat update. Given Xiaomi'south rails record, one would be inclined to believe that the device will as well receive an official update to Android nine Pie at some stage, although, there's no confirmation of that at this point in time.

It's worth noting hither that the Redmi Note 4 was the best-selling smartphone in India terminal year across segments, helping Xiaomi border by Samsung as the largest smartphone vendor in the country.
